Thanks! It was a much more challenging process than I'd hoped it would be. I'd read a lot about Kool-Aid dyeing and thought that would be fun (there's a nice tutorial here - http://www.snowangels.com/sketchbook/?page_id=418) Even though it's not supposed to work as well with cotton, I thought I'd try it. I did a test run with the four different kinds of yarn I was using and it came out perfectly - all different shades of purple and pink. But when I tried dyeing the whole scarf, the cotton just wouldn't absorb the color. The wool stripe kept getting darker and darker (as you can see in the one where it looks pink and black). So I had to resort to chemical dye, which was less fun but pretty effective. I don't think I will try this again, but I would like to try dyeing more wool with kool-aid - especially taking the time to make some variegated yarns.
I was surprised too! And as I said, the samples took the Kool-Aid color perfectly. Hmmm. If you end up taking any photograps of your Kool-Aid experiments, I'd love to see them! :)

You're welcome! Here's another one I consulted - http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/FEATdyedwool.html
I don't like they way they do variegated, but it has some helpful information. Happy Dyeing! :)
